Greeny named as new Competition Manager

The new Community Football & Competition Manager for Northern NSW is ready to hit the ground running.

Brad Greenshields has been promoted from Competition Coordinator to fill the Community Football & Competition Manager role left vacant by Paul Taylor after he transitioned into his new position in Umpire Recruitment and Retention.

Greenshields started working with AFL NSW/ACT 17 months ago and said he’s looking forward to working with clubs, umpires and other key stakeholders in the new role.

“I’ve really enjoyed in the Coordinator role the opportunity to both get to know and work with with the tremendous volunteers in the Northern NSW footy community and I look forward to continuing to work with them in the future to further strengthen our great game,” Greenshields said.

“The game has enjoyed healthy participation numbers in our region this year and one of my goals is to help grow those numbers even further.”

Having started out as a junior player with Bayswater in the Eastern FNL in Melbourne, Greeny’s footy odyssey took in stops in country Victoria at Euroa and Wangaratta before he landed in Coffs Harbour in the late 1990s and linked with the North Coffs Kangaroos where he was a multiple premiership winning player, one of those as captain-coach. The Collingwood supporter was also named in the AFL North Coast Team of the Decade for 2000 to 2009.

Steven Mahar, the Community Football Regional Manager for the ACT & Regional NSW, said that Brad’s appointment is another exciting development in the ongoing growth of AFL across Northern NSW.

“Brad has developed positive proactive relationships which will allow him to continue the momentum as the the AFL North Coast and AFL North West build into finals for this year and 2024 season preparations,” Mahar said.
