Big Freeze coming to Port on Sunday

Wayne Richards Park is set to be painted blue on Sunday as the Port Macquarie Juniors get right behind the Big Freeze Community Round.

The Port Macquarie players and will be playing in blue Big Freeze 9 socks while there will be no shortage of FightMND beanies among the spectators.

The club is raising as much money as it can for FightMND in recognition of long time member Tim Eggert who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease earlier this year.

While the club thought about raising funds to help Tim and his family with the costs that will come in the future, Port Macquarie Juniors president Cohen Quinn said Tim and his wife Michelle didn’t want the occasion to be about himself.

“The family has asked that all money raised go towards funding to help find a cure for everyone rather than have it just go to them,” Quinn said.

“Sunday will be an expression of of support for Tim who has been such a big part of the Port Macquarie Football Club for a long time.”
