Breakers young guns win swimmingly

THE Coffs Breakers handled the slippery conditions better than their cross town rivals to win the Under-17s premiership.

After 50mm of rain fell the night before the grand final between the Breakers and Sawtell/Toormina, both sides were faced with surface water and a wet footy to contend with.

It was the Breakers’ ability to be able to gain and maintain territory with long kicking that proved the difference between the two teams.

After a fairly even first quarter the Breakers stamped their authority on the contest with three unanswered goals built on a superior clearance rate.
