DAY 3 REVIEW: The Northern NSW Championships provided a tremendous standard of football riffs through to its conclusion on Monday afternoon.

After 87 matches across the three days in Coffs Harbour, it was the representative program from Illawarra that won the Simon Smyth Cup for being the best performed program across all age groups.

The Illawarra Storm teams won 21 of their 36 matches which was just half a game better than Hunter Country.

This year was the first time the North Coast Force fielded teams in all six age groups with a Youth Girls 15s playing in North Coast colours for the first time.

The Force girls recorded strong results in the 13s and 15s winning five of their combined 12 matches while the North Coast’s Under 17 Boys maintained its unbeaten record through the carnival after recording a strong win over Hunter Metro in the final match on the C.ex Coffs International Stadium turf.

This weekend was the largest Championships ever held with almost 700 players taking part at the Stadium and the adjacent Coffs Coast Sport & Leisure Park grounds.
