DAY 2 REVIEW: While the North Coast Force teams at the Northern NSW Championships continue to improve with each match, it’s the Illawarra Storm that’s recording victories in Coffs Harbour.

At the end of the second day of action at the C.ex Coffs International Stadium and adjacent Coffs Coast Sport & Leisure Park ovals, the battle for the Simon Smyth Cup is a closely fought race with the Illawarra teams narrowly leading the way.

The Storm have won 18 of the 30 matches they’ve played across all age groups to be ahead in the race over Central Coast and Hunter Country.

It’s Illawarra’s Youth Girls 15s team that’s leading the way, still undefeated after five matches across two days.

The highly anticipated Under 17 Boys clash today between the undefeated Force and Hunter Country teams did not disappoint those who went to the Stadium to watch.

The Force opened up a handy lead in the first half only to see the Country boys claw their way back for the match to end in a thrilling draw that left both teams still undefeated.

There’s still one day to play in the Championships and if the improvement of the North Coast Force continues to improve, the Force could be in for a big finale.
