Club profile: Breakers motivated to go one better

It's hard to tell but the three players behind a wall of water during the 2022 AFL North Coast Grand Final are Malcolm Trotter (Coffs Breakers) and Port Macquarie's Will Kelly and Darren Boulet. Photo: Brad Greenshields

THE preview series of men’s and women’s teams ahead of the 2023 season start continues today with the club that won four minor premierships last year.

CONSIDERING the Coffs Breakers won four minor premierships in 2022, the health of the club cannot be questioned.

But seeing as both the Senior Men’s and Women’s teams as well as the Reserves lost their grand finals, the motivation for the Breakers cannot be questioned either.

The women’s team will have new leadership in 2023 as Brad Giri, the women’s coach for five years, has stepped down from the role and Martin Garoni will take the reins.

The men’s team will once again have Ben Watson calling the shots with some help from Jason Yole.

In 2022 the Breakers’ Under 18 team won the premiership and a number of the younger team’s players were blooded for a senior debut. With another summer under their belt those younger players will be ready to step up for a permanent role in the senior team.
