“On this day in September” – 14 September

There’s only been one key event in the history or AFL North Coast that’s fallen on today’s date – the 1985 Senior Grand Finals.

Woolgoolga Blues and South Coffs both extended their Premiership success, but it was also a red letter day for North Coffs Kangaroos as they achieved a milestone of their own.

1985 SENIOR GRAND FINALS
Woolgoolga Blues resumed their domination over the rest of the competition, claiming their third title in just the fourth season of the League’s existence. North Coffs made their first appearance in a North Coast Grand Final.
Seniors: Woolgoolga Blues 11.8 (74) def North Coffs 7.7 (49)
Reserves: South Coffs won their third straight Reserve Grade title to continue their run as the only club to win this grade.
Under 18 competition took a one season break and was not contested.
