R.I.P. James Moir (29.5.1998 – 3.9.2021)
It’s with great sadness that we advise of the passing of our mate James “Fui” Moir after an inspiring battle with cancer.
Fui completed a two year Traineeship with AFL NSW/ACT in Sydney before a securing the role of Development Co-ordinator based in Port Macquarie in late 2018. Once he moved to Port he joined the Magpies footy club and became a much loved figure for both his on field exploits and contribution to numerous off field events.
As a result of the AFL industry re-set in late 2020 the role in Port Macquarie was abolished but Fui was able to secure a similar role in the Hunter. He was very much looking forward to starting in that capacity in November 2020 when he got the diagnosis of his cancer. He fought his illness with genuine bravery and a positive outlook that impressed everyone that spoke to him during the past 11 months.
Fui had an unbelievably level head for someone so young, knew what he wanted in life, knew what he stood for, and was a straight shooter. He’s going to be incredibly missed and we’re all better people for knowing him and spending time with him.
All of our thoughts are with his amazing family, dad Darren, mum Leianne, and brother Jack, and his beautiful partner Sarah.
