Spots in State teams go on the line in Coffs
Six local female players have their chance to press a claim for inclusion in the NSW/ACT Youth Girls State Team this weekend when they participate for the GWS GIANTS and Sydney Swans in the 2018 Youth Girls Northern Academy Series in Coffs Harbour.
Ahlani Eddy (Corindi, Sawtell Toormina Saints), Lilly Doyle (Grafton, Grafton Tigers), Lizzy Dickson (Kempsey, Port Magpies), and Brianna McFarlane (Yamba, Coffs Breakers) will line up for the GIANTS, whilst Cassidy Ronalds (Upper Orara, Coffs Breakers) and Georgia Breward (Lawrence, formerly Grafton Tigers) will don the red and white of the Swans.
In addition to the GIANST and Swans the 2018 Youth Girls Northern Academy Series will involve teams representing the Gold Coast Suns and Brisbane Lions. The series is the final hit out for both AFL NSW/ACT and AFL Queensland which will select their respective Under 18 Youth Girls state teams to participate in the National Championships program.
Following the championships players will have the chance to nominate for the AFLW draft. With North Melbourne and Geelong both joining the AFLW competition in the 2019 season there has never been more opportunities for girls to play at the elite level.
All matches are being played at C.ex Coffs International Stadium with admission being free.
