AFL Careers get a Kickstart

The AFL NSW/ACT Kickstart squad for the 2018 AFL National Diversity Championships in April has been selected, and features four young Indigenous men from the North Coast.

The NSW/ACT team includes Justin Kelly (Kempsey), Ronan Singleton (Coffs Harbour), Malakai Troutman (Coffs Harbour), and Oshay Tyerman (Bowraville). Kelly was a member of last season’s Macleay Valley Eagles Under 13 Premiership winning team, whilst Singleton and Troutman both ply their trade with Sawtell Toormina Saints. Tyerman was talent spotted through his involvement in high level OzTag and his speed and knack of finding the ball have ensured a smooth transition.

The Kickstart team, made up of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander players aged 14 and 15, will be led by Coach, Gerrit Wanganeen of Canberra.

Over 300 players from all the Australian states and territories will attend the five day tournament being held at Blacktown International Sportspark between April 14-19.
