Enormous growth in female playing numbers

THE number of female players in the AFL North Coast continues to grow.
The first woemn’s competition was played in 2018. That same year was also the second year for the Youth Girls.
In that fledgling year there were 106 female players registered.
That number has continued to grow each year since.
In fact the growth has been so great that in 2024 there were 454 female players registered.
This figure shows that the number of female players in the AFL North Coast has grown 428.3% from 2018 to 2024.
The big question now is how many many players will there be this year?
The largest jump in numbers came in 2022 when the League introduced a second Youth Girls age group.
In 2023 there was the introduction of the non-competitive Under 10 mixed age group while last year saw the introduction of a third Youth Girls age group.
