High scoring means no singing the Blues

FOR the first time in the team’s history, Northern Beaches women’s team reached the 100 mark on the scoreboard.

It was a big win against Grafton and gives the Blues plenty of confidence heading into next week’s match against the undefeated Coffs Breakers.

The Blues have five members in their leadership group and teenager Shania King is one of them. The group takes turns being the captain and Saturday was King’s turn. She marked the milestone by booting five goals.

Arizona Cross also proved dangerous in front of goal booting four of her own.

King said reaching the 100 mark was a big moment for Northern Beaches as it’s the culmination of a lot of hard work on the training track.

“All of the girls have been committed, everyone’s been coming to training, putting the hard yards in and to get the points on the leader board is just amazing,” King said.

Grafton team manager Chris Goodall was in control of the magnet board for the match and he said it’s easy to find the positives in the Tigers when the young players in the team continue to show improvement each week.

“Mia Trevillian is doing really well. She’s played youth girls for a year or so and has stepped up to the womens this year and is really working well in the midfield,” Goodall said.

“Emily Crispe, Emily Goodall, Rani Anderson, they’re all doing really well.

“Hannah Tait, a first-time player, super fit and is working on her skills and they’re coming as well.”

THE Coffs Breakers continued on their merry way, undefeated at the top of the ladder.

The reigning premier defeated local rival Sawtell/Toormina for the second time this season, this time by 68 points.

Tall forward April Devine shone in front of the sticks booting six majors to move into a tie for second on the competition goal kicking table.

Danielle Watson and Phoebe Baptiste completed the scoring for the Breakers with two goals each.
