Another perfect day of rep footy
Day one of the Northern NSW Representative Carnival provided an outstanding display of junior footy in perfect conditions at Coffs Coast Sport & Leisure Park.
The 19 teams from North Coast, Central Coast, Hunter, North West and Illawarrra excelled through 24 shortened matches played across two grounds.
North Coast Force teams were ultra competitive in all matches. The Under 13, Under 15, Under 17, and Youth Girls faced tough challenges against perennial powerhouse Hunter in each of their first matches of the day, with the Under 15 faring best when they went down by just seven points.
The Under 17 team acquitted themselves well for three quarters of the match against Hunter but fell away in the latter stages to finish six goals behind their rivals.
The later fixtures saw the Force teams take on Central Coast with each team notching an improved performance. The Under 13 and Under 15 teams each walked away with their first win of the carnival, the Under 17 team led late in the match but lost by seven points, and the inexperienced Youth Girls kicked their first goal to get their carnival headed in the right direction.
With travel between towns in our region making it challenging to bring rep teams together, the North Coast Force always gets stronger the longer the carnival goes. This bodes well for the second day of the event as our teams take on Illawarra (Under 13, Under 15, and Youth Girls), North West (all four teams) and potentially play-offs.
Day two action gets underway at 8:30am with play-offs starting at 12:40pm.
