Byron women get on a roll

Byron Bay Magpies' midfielder Lilli Hutchings won the AFL North Coast's Women's Best & Fairest award.

The women’s team from the Byron Bay Magpies has won two matches in a row and moved up to third position on the ladder.

The battle against Grafton was an even one but it was the Magpies who were able to best convert midfield opportunities into meaningful inside 50 entries.

Niki Clough took most advantage by kicking three goals.

Byron’s men’s team continued its unbeaten start to the season against a determined Grafton outfit.

Blayne Hull kicked four goals for the Magpies to stay at the top of the goalkicking leaderboard.

The Coffs Breakers men bounced back from their first loss of the year by producing a strong second half performance against Northern Beaches.

The Breakers were never in danger of losing the match after jumping out to an early lead but it was an 11 goal to two second half that proved the difference.

Riley Dagger and Malcolm Trotter provided a dangerous double act in front of goal for the victors kicking six goals each.

The Northern Beaches women flexed their muscle again to produce a victory.

The Blues led the Breakers by just five points at half time but kicked three unanswered goals in the second half to draw away.

A six goal to three to second term by Port Macquarie proved the difference for the Magpies’ men’s team against Sawtell/Toormina.

It was just a brief period in that quarter where the Saints let the Magpies get the upper hand in a match that was even for the rest of it.

Tom Dickson’s ability to turn just half chances into goals proved pivotal for the home team as Dickson slotted home five majors.
