Calling all girls in the Clarence Valley – are you looking for a new sporting challenge?

Then come on down to Ellem Oval on Thursday 24 March (4:00pm to 5:00pm) for the Grafton Tigers Girls Only come and try afternoon. The session is for girls aged 12 to 17 years, with no previous AFL experience necessary.

All you need is a can do attitude to try something new, and to be prepared to have fun!

The Grafton Tigers have been great supporters of female AFL, being one of the foundation clubs in the Youth Girls Under 17 competition back in 2017, then adding a Women’s team in 2021. This season the club plans to add a Youth Girls Under 14 team to play in that newly created age group.

The come and try session will be led by female coaches, with a focus on providing an opportunity for girls that are interested in playing in either the Youth Girls Under 14 or Under 17 teams.

The Clarence Valley has been a great producer of female AFL talent with Georgia Breward (Lawrence) being drafted by the Gold Coast Suns, Brianna McFarlane (Yamba) being signed by the Brisbane Lions, and Lilly Doyle (Grafton) being a former member of the AIS program.

If you’re looking to play a contact sport where your catching, kicking, agility, or running skills are highly valued and transferable, AFL is for you.

Grab your friends and bring some girl power to the Grafton Tigers come and try session on Thursday 24 March.
