“On this day in September” – 12 September

There’s a great piece of symmetry about 12 September in AFL North Coast footy, with two greats of the local game leaving an indelible print on this day.

1998 SENIOR PRESENTATION NIGHT
Brian Rava (Sawtell) became the first player in League history to win the League Best and Fairest Medal for a third time. Brian’s previous wins came in the 1991 and 1992 seasons to mark him as the dominant players of the 90’s.

2009 SENIOR PRESENTATION NIGHT
Mark Couzens (Sawtell) claimed his second League Best and Fairest award. In 2014 Mark would claim a third B&F Medal and join Brian Rava as the second man to win the top individual honour three times.
