Holly’s star rises with Suns Academy inclusion
Holly Wall is marking herself as a player to watch following her recent elevation to the Gold Coast Suns Academy program.
Holly, 15 from North Casino, joined the ranks of the Lismore Swans in 2021 having played previously in mixed teams at Casino. Joining the Swans has proven to be a master stroke, not only because Holly has been playing great footy for her new club, but because she has impressed her President and team mate Laura Cahill enough that she made the initial contact with the Suns Academy which led to the opportunity to join the program.
Holly was invited to attend a Suns Academy hub training session at Cabarita prior to the recent school holidays where she linked with the Under 16 girls session and impressed the Suns Academy coaches.
As a result Holly has been invited to join the group for their last three weeks of training through September and to play in the Academy carnival on 20 September. This carnival will feature eight teams coming together on the Gold Coast with the best talent from both the Suns and Brisbane Lions regions.
Selections for the 2022 Under 17 High Performance program will be made from this carnival so Holly will be looking to make every post a winner.
September will be a busy month for Holly as she will also represent the North Coast Force at the Northern NSW Championship in Coffs Harbour on 27 and 28 September.
The North Coast region has a growing reputation as a nursery for talented female footballers with former AFLW listed players Nikki Wallace, Brianna McFarlane, and Georgia Breward all learning their trade in the AFL North Coast competition.
