Nambucca Valley Lions finally return home
After an eight year absence, Senior AFL finally returns to the Nambucca Valley.
Having re-formed this season and entered the AFL North Coast Competition in Reserve Grade, the Nambucca Valley Lions host their first home match of the season at EJ Biffin Oval on Saturday. Unbeaten in three matches to date, the Lions are highly fancied to mark their homecoming in style against a Grafton Tigers team that has also re-formed this year and is still finding its way.
The Lions efforts this season have exceeded expectations and the team is well placed to mount a serios title challenge. This augurs well for the planned future growth, with the club intending to field a team in the Senior grade in addition to Reserves in 2021. On field success always attracts more interest and a successful season will go a long way to ensuring the club’s future sustainability which is also underpinned by the rapid growth of Junior AFL throughout the valley.
Adding to the carnival atmosphere on the day will be an Under 17 match between Grafton Tigers and Coffs Harbour Breakers.
Action gets underway at 10:00am with the Under 17 match, followed by the Lions v Grafton in Reserve Grade at 12:30pm.
