Could you be the next player from the North Coast to play in a NSW/ACT Rams Youth Girls state team?

AFL NSW/ACT runs Youth Girls state teams at both the Under 16 and Under 18 age groups. To be considered for these teams local players must first be a member of the North Coast Academy of Sport (NCAS) AFLW program.

The North Coast is seen as a breeding ground for talented female players with:

  • Local girls selected to play state footy each of the past four years.
  • One former local on the Brisbane Lions AFLW list in Brianna McFarlane (from Yamba).
  • At least one more player expected to be drafted by an AFLW club in October.

The 2019-2020 NCAS program is for athletes born between 2002 and 2005 (inclusive) and will run from October 2019 to April 2020. As well as intensive training days, squad members receive an athlete education program which includes sports nutrition, sports physiology, sports psychology and drugs awareness. Athletes will also be provided with an NCAS uniform.

The AFLW athlete application & information pack can be found on the NCAS website.

Applications close Friday 18 October 2019. Trials will be held Saturday 26 October 2019.

North Coast Academy of Sport staff are available to discuss any part of the program or application process. For more info call 6620 3073 or email programs@ncas.org.au.
