Women double down on Men’s round 12 results

Coffs Harbour Breakers victory over Port Macquarie Magpies sees them open a handy six point lead on the ladder.

Breakers were on from the first bounce whereas the Magpies had a rare day where they didn’t seem to have their heads in the match. Breakers win was one of their best performances in the team’s relatively short history and will give them great impetus heading towards the Finals Series.

In a rare effort, Port failed to kick a goal for the match and didn’t score after half time. They are a better team than that and will need to bounce back quickly and prove that to everyone, themselves included.

For Breakers, Katika Adams and Kyah Griffith each had two goals to comprise half of the team’s goalkicking. Tarryn Arnold, Bella Crawley, Amy Johanson, and Laura Young rounded out the scoring with one goal each.

Sawtell Toormina Saints roared back into premiership consideration with an emphatic win over Northern Beaches/Grafton.

The Saints have endured a very up and down season which has been blighted by injuries but seem to be coming into form at the right time to mount a challenge. The two week break has done them the world of good as players carrying injures were able to freshen up whilst others were able to return from lay-off. The Saints will take great heart from this performance and will use it to charge towards the Finals.

The break seems to have had the opposite effect on Northern Beaches/Grafton. The Blue Tigers had built great momentum prior to the break but seemed to have lost their way since their last outing. Several key players were missing and the team not only missed their input but also lacked the cohesion that had been built up.

The Blue Tigers slim Finals hopes have now dissipated and the next three weeks will be about building to sustain a bigger challenge in 2020.
