Cracking round of Junior matches

Grafton Tigers v Coffs Breakers

Our Junior teams turned on another display of outstanding footy that showcased all the best aspects of our game.

The highlight in the Under 11 matches was the clash between the Manning Valley Mustangs and the Macleay Valley Eagles. This match was an absolute shoot-out, with a combined total of 199 points scored, and the Mustangs claiming a mere nine point win, 104 to 95. This match was played in a brilliant spirit with both teams joining forces in the middle of the ground at match’s end to sing happy birthday to one of the players.

The Under 13 battle of the big cats between Grafton Tigers and Nambucca Valley Lions was a tight and tense tussle. The Lions lead by just one goal at three quarter time and accelerated in the final term to claim a 20 point victory but they were pushed all the way by the Tigers.

In the Youth Girls competition, Coffs Harbour Breakers reinforced their second placed position on the ladder, but the Bellingen Bulldogs put up a brave fight and marked themselves as an emerging force. In just their first year in the competition, the young Doggies matched their opponents for long periods, but the two times reigning premiers scored a 28 point win.

The match of the round in the Under 15 competition saw the Sawtell Toormina Saints beat the Macleay Valley Eagles by just seven points. The Saints led by 14 points at the first break which was the biggest lead that either team held throughout. The Eagles edged back in front by half time before a further swing saw the Saints claim the lead in the third term and hold on to claim the spoils.
