Friday Night Football returns
Friday night footy is back! Grafton Tigers and Sawtell Toormina Saints have rescheduled their round 9 clash at Ellem Oval from Saturday to Friday night after the resounding success the last time the two clubs played.
Players from all clubs are loving the chance to play under lights and the crowds are responding too, showing up in strong numbers to get behind the concept.
This will be the Tigers third night game of the season and, although they’re yet to win, gave a good account of themselves earlier in the season. Their form in the last month hasn’t been great and they will see this as an opportunity to get their strongest team on the park and arrest the slump that they’ve been in.
On the other side of the ledger, Sawtell has had a great month, going unbeaten during that time and claiming top spot on the ladder. They will be looking to keep that momentum going and mark themselves as the team to beat in the race for this season’s Premiership.
Not only will the Seniors be taking to Ellem Oval tonight, so too will the Under 18s with the same two clubs meeting in a curtain raiser.
The Tiger “cubs” are in the midst of a strong season, sitting second on the table, and have had some former players return to the fold in recent weeks. The Saints meanwhile have only had one win for the season, but played out a dramatic draw last round with ladder leaders Breakers so come into this match with good form.
