ON Day 2 of the Northern NSW Championships, the North Coast Force teams showed they have the talent to hold their own against the rest of the state.

North Coast’s under-13, under-15 and under-17 teams, both boys and girls, showed some tremendous grit and the positive results followed.

The under-13s boys won both of their matches today. First up was a close three-point victory over Illawarra before an impressive 29-13 victory over Hunter Metro.

The Force’s 13 Girls team fought hard against the strong Hunter outfit but couldn’t get the result but later in the day when up against Central Coast the young North Coast girls had eight scoring shots to two and the final margin possibly could’ve been greater than 18-12.

The under-15s team played two matches against Illawarra today and came away with two victories.

The first contest saw the Force win by a nail biting two points but later in the day the North Coast boys put the petal to the metal and won by 35 points.

The two under-17s teams played two matches each on the wide expanses of the C.ex Coffs International Stadium.

The Force girls were a chance of gaining a win at various stages of their matches against Illawarra and Central Coast.

Illawarra was cleaner forward of centre and managed to score more often in what was an otherwise even contest. The Force girls peppered the goals against Central Coast but failed to convert some late opportunities before going down by three points.

The 17s boys led at half time of their match against Illawarra before fading late. The Force lads battled hard against the undefeated Hunter Metro outfit but couldn’t find a reward on the scoreboard for their hard work.

The battle for the Simon Smyth Cup concludes on Wednesday with play starting at 9am and the last matches finishing at 1.35pm.
