Happy festive season to our footy family!

On behalf of the entire team at AFL NSW/ACT we’d like to wish our North Coast footy family a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

It’s been widely reported that 2020 has been one of the most challenging years on record, and that was true too from a footy sense. That we managed to complete a season, and a very successful one at that, is a huge credit to everyone involved in footy on the North Coast, from committee members, umpires, coaches, and players, through to extended families and spectators that adhered to COVID protocols and ensured we could get through the full season.

In our Junior competition we crowned Premiers from four different clubs across the four age groups, then backed up in our Senior competition with another four Premiers from four different clubs. This just reinforces how much our competition has grown and how even many of our grades and age groups are.

As we head into 2021 there’s plenty more exciting things happening in local footy. We’ll see our recently announced strategic plan start to roll out, two new clubs join the Senior Competition, more teams in our Men’s, Women’s, and Under 17 grades, plus a continuation of the growth in the Junior Competition that has underpinned the growth we’re now seeing across the board.

Add to that the Sydney Swans and Collingwood Magpies coming to Coffs on Wednesday 3 March to play in the AFL Community Series and excitement for the new season is at record levels! And that’s before we even celebrate 40 years of AFL on the North Coast – stay tuned for more details on how we’ll be acknowledging that milestone in 2021!

As we head towards the biggest ever season of footy of AFL North Coast please stay safe and healthy, and enjoy this special time with your family.

We can’t wait to see you all back at the footy in 2021 for a huge year of local AFL.
