Places in Junior Finals Series determined
Sunday’s final round of the Junior competition has answered all the burning questions about the composition of the Finals Series which gets underway on Sunday 11 August.
In the Under 11 competition, Port Macquarie Flyers victory over the South West Rocks Dockers confirmed second place on the ladder and a Major Semi Final against club mates the Port Macquarie Swoopers. This locks Nambucca Valley Lions into third place a Minor Semi Final appearance against Coffs Harbour Breakers.
In the Under 13 competition, Bellingen Bulldogs and Northern Beaches Blues went into the round knowing that they would face off in the Major Semi no matter what the results. Nambucca Valley Lions had one place booked in the Minor Semi and were able to sit back and watch which Port Macquarie team would be their opponent. Both the Flyers and Swoopers recorded wins to finish with same winning percentage, with the Swoopers being the unlucky team after missing out on the Finals by just six scoring percentage points. The Flyers live to fly another day against the Lions in the Semi.
Results in the Youth Girls competition see Coffs Harbour Breakers secure a date with the unbeaten Grafton Tigers in the Major Semi Final. The competition’s two new teams, Bellingen Bulldogs and Sawtell Toormina Saints will face off in the Minor Semi Final in a great sign of the growing strength of these teams.
The Major Semi Final in the Under 15 competition pits Grafton Tigers against Sawtell Toormina Saints. Macleay Valley’s win in the last round sees them sneak above Bellingen Bulldogs into third and claim a home semi against the Dogs.
