Women’s competition is ultra competitive

The hallmark of the last two rounds of the Women’s competition has been extremely close and competitive matches, with that trend expected to continue in round 11.

Coffs Harbour Breakers will be looking to extend their winning run against Sawtell Toormina Saints to three in a row.

Breakers survived a scare last week and will be focussed on ensuring they get the spoils against their near neighbours. They can expect to be without Bella Grace in the ruck whose split head had to be stitched last week but should welcome back captain Katika Adams who will give them a greater focal point up forward.

The Saints still have Ahlani Eddy on the long term injured list and expect her to be several weeks away yet. Their premiership defence has been constantly disrupted by injuries making cohesion and momentum elusive but all of this will be forgotten on Saturday as they look to turn the recent tables on Breakers.

The Northern Beaches/Grafton team took the confidence gained from their first win into last week’s match and nearly caused a boil over against the Breakers. They will continue to be up and about and will pose a real threat to the Port Macquarie Magpies when they face off in Woolgoolga.

Just like their men’s team the Port Women will expect to be without several players due to travel and will have to dig deep to keep the resurgent Blue Tigers at bay. Port showed last week that they can play free flowing footy but are also prepared to get involved in the tight clinches when needed. Coach Mel Hunt won’t care which approach is adopted, just as long as they head south with four competition points in the bag.
