Rep footy taken by Force

An outstanding day of representative AFL action in Tamworth saw the North Coast Force teams claim wins in four of the five clashes to just miss a clean sweep.

Wins were recorded by the Under 13, Under 15, Youth Girls, and Under 17 teams, whilst the Women couldn’t quite match the intensity of their North West rivals in the last match of the day.

Paul Taylor, Community Football Manager, said the performances were more important than the results. “It’s always positive to win matches but the most pleasing aspect of the day for all involved with the Force program was the intensity and effort shown by all teams.

“These matches were a dress rehearsal for the Northern NSW carnival for the four underage teams and, based on the way they played today, we can expect to have a really successful carnival. The cohesion and teamwork was there from the outset and the focus from each individual was exactly what we want to see.

“The Women’s match was a one-off so we now have to wait 12 months for a chance to win back the shield. Considering that we had eight players in the team who are only in their first season of playing AFL and have a combined total of less than 40 matches of experience, it was a fantastic performance by the team who matched the North West ladies for three of the four quarters.”

Captain Christine Kirby was declared best on ground for the Force, with Sarah Vidler, Jayde Hancock, and Kayla McIntosh also performing strongly.

The Northern NSW representative carnival will be held in Coffs Harbour on Tuesday 9 and Wednesday 10 July. North Coast Force will be joined by teams from North West, Hunter, Central Coast, and Illawarra for a huge two days of quality footy action.
