Coaches Committed to Learning

Twenty seven hardy souls braved the elements recently to undertake the Level 1 Coaching Accreditation, with courses run in both Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour.

Although the courses were conducted a month apart, they both happened to run on two of the wettest Sundays of 2017, meaning much of the work had to be completed indoors. This didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits and the courses went ahead with great participation and plenty of interaction between the clubs fro various coaches.

Attending the course is the first step on the pathway to accreditation. By undertaking this process each of the coaches has demonstrated an absolute commitment to teaching athletes the skills of the game using the most up to date drills, providing a safe and positive environment, and coaching to develop the skills of the athlete rather than to win at all costs.

In addition to the twenty seven coaches starting out on the accreditation pathway, a further six coaches came along to a workshop to finalise their accreditation having attended an earlier course.

The quality of coaching is one of the primary reasons why players either continue to participate in sport or give up the game. All associated with the AFL are passionate about ensuring that players get the most out of their involvement in the sport and these coaches are commended for their efforts to gain the accreditation.
